The PhD program in Medical Life Science and Technology aims to attract enthusiastic students of both medicine and the sciences. We are looking for highly motivated applicants with a strong record of academic achievement and a keen interest in scientific research.

We require applicants to either have successfully completed their medical studies or hold a Master's degree or Diplom in natural sciences, engineering, psychology or a related discipline or to be current medical students of the Technichal University Munich. Medical students of the Technical University Munich may apply after passing the first part of the "Ärztliche Prüfung". If accepted, these students will be able to alternatingly complete their MD and PhD training. Students who have successfully completed their Bachelor's degree and are currently enrolled in a Master's program at the Technical University Munich can also apply and may be accepted under certain circumstances. These students will have to show proof of successful completion of their Master's degree within one year.

Application Process

We only accept online applications. Submitting an online application involves the following four steps:

  1. Register on the DocGS platform to receive a username and password

  2. Login and fill out the application form (Note: The application form can be seen one month before each application deadline. Application is not possible at other times.)

  3. Upload the relevant documents

  4. Submit your application

Once you have registered you can login to the application system using your account information by clicking on "Login". You will then be able to upload a picture and fill out the application. When filling out the application form, please enter all required information and any additional relevant supporting information. The information you enter will be saved and you will be able to revisit the site and make changes if necessary. After you have completed the application form and uploaded your documents, submit your application by clicking on "Submit Application". You will only be able to submit your application if you have filled in at least all of the required fields. After submitting your application, you will no longer be able to make any changes. Unless you click "Submit Application", your information will not be processed and we will be unable to review your application.

Only applications that are complete and have been submitted by the deadline will be included in the review process. Registration will open one month prior to the deadline. Applicants are encouraged to collect all necessary information and documents early on to allow themselves enough time to submit a complete application by the deadline. Applications will be reviewed by faculty members and promising candidates will be selected for interviews. We will notify you by email of the status of your application.

The application form consists of several sections, covering your personal data, educational background, English skills and your motivation for applying and scientific interests.
